MACMILLAN TEACHERS´ DAY 1

Last Saturday 23rd of March some English teachers attended the Macmillan teacher’s day. They enjoyed some very interesting talks related to the digital age and creative ways to use Legos in our classrooms. The following ones may serve as an example.

Pete Sharma – What every teacher should know in the digital age.

How has the language classroom changed in the digital age, and how is the role of teacher changing? Can pedagogy keep up with the speed of technological change? These were some of the questions of this plenary talk. They explored how technology has changed the teaching and learning of grammar, vocabulary, language skills and pronunciation. They looked at some innovative developments, such as “augmented reality”, “adaptive learning” and “gamification”.

Jetro De Château – One brick at a time.
When we allow children to use multiple senses during the learning process, they have a far better chance of fully understanding and remembering what they have learned. In this session they looked at ways to activate pupils´ full potential by physically building conversations and turning playtime into a natural conversation piece. Great practical session!
